Terms of Service
Last updated 2026-05-02. Beta. Subject to change before public launch (June 2026).
What VRTUE is
VRTUE is software that connects to your Alpaca brokerage account via API and executes trades on your behalf according to the strategies described on the home page. VRTUE does not custody funds, does not provide financial advice, and does not hold a securities license. Your funds remain at Alpaca, an SEC-registered broker-dealer and FINRA member.
What you’re responsible for
- Maintaining your Alpaca account in good standing.
- Ensuring you understand the strategies running on your account.
- Monitoring your dashboard and revoking VRTUE’s API access if you disagree with any trade or want to stop the bot.
- All gains and losses on your account.
What VRTUE is responsible for
- Operating the strategy code as documented.
- Encrypting your API keys at rest and not logging them.
- Notifying you of material changes to strategy logic before they ship to your account.
- Responding to email questions from customers within 48 hours.
Risks
Algorithmic trading carries risk. Past results do not predict future returns. You can lose money. Backtest and forward-test numbers reflect historical conditions and are subject to model error and slippage. Crypto markets are volatile. VRTUE makes no guarantee of profitability or any specific return.
Cancellation
Cancel any time by emailing founder@vrtue.org. The monthly subscription cancels at the next billing cycle — you keep access for the remainder of the billing period you’ve already paid for. You can also revoke VRTUE’s API key from your Alpaca dashboard at any time to stop the bot from trading immediately, independent of the subscription cancellation.

Full long-form Terms of Service ships before the founding cohort opens (June 2026). For now, the substance above is binding between VRTUE and beta customers, and any disputes are resolved by direct contact with the founder.
